Ghiaccio or cracked Murano ice glass chandelier in custom sizes [45701]
Ghiaccio is the Italian word for “ice”. Ghiaccio glass is made by immersing an object in cold water while it is still hot, to create fine cracks in its surface. The object is then covered with another layer of clear glass to keep it intact, and so the genre has earned its name.
The technique has been popular since the 16th century in the Venetian glass industry, but the style of this lovely small chandelier has its design roots firmly in the middle of the 20th century.
You can pick up similar originals on auction sites, but they tend to be very expensive, and as they are around 50 years old, they tend to show signs of wear and tear.
That's where we come in. We have developed our own superb collection of beautiful Venetian mid-century lighting which includes the most popular mid-century designs. We therefore enjoy free rein as far as colour, size, and shape are concerned.
The price quoted here is for a 40 centimetre size (ø), on a chrome frame. If you would like to know more about custom options or the matching wall lights, please get in touch with us.
